Single-core CortexA8,Ars Technica clarify iPad CPU
Since Apple released IPad tablet PC,there are so many evaluations from separate ways. Some people continue to Apple crazy, some people are very disappointed, aside appearance aside, it seems iPad used A4 processor, recently it has become a point of contention. Apple also seems intent on weakening the official introduction of CPU, but in a dispute, Ars Technica (U.S. science and technology blog site, has been CondeNast American Journal of giant Conde Nast acquired) has finally sit still, and came forward to clarify the mysterious A4 processor.
Ars Technica says, iPad used A4 is not the rumored dual-core processor, Cortex A9 structure, but simply a “shrunken” version of the Cortex A8. Specific in that it streamlined the number of components, controller and China Unicom aims for future expansion to the mobile terminal market preparation. Specific,this Cortex A8 is only equipped with the basic PowerVR SGX graphics processing unit, NAND Flash, DDR memory interface, with limited input and output controllers, as well as single-A8 processor core.
