Modu becomes officially available in Israel
Modu was about to hit the stores in Israel this month turned out to be true after all. The cell phone with innovative, module-based design is currently on offer with the local carrier Cellcom and the team of Mobo.co.il has shared their first impressions. As a whole, the handset doesn´t come placed within a single module (or jacket), the thing is really small and the manufacturer claims it´s actually the smallest cell phone to date, which makes it a direct competitor to another odd, tiny device - the Neonode N2. Modu sports quite a bantam screen to modern standards that measures 1.3 inches and supports 65k colors.
The available handset jackets look fairly ordinary and remind us of Xpress-On Covers by Nokia, because they alter the overall look. We hope more complex modules roll out soon, like the promised JBL loudspeakers and … why not even a touch sensitive screen?
The Modu and a single jacket can be had at the modest price of $130 in Israel and we still don´t have information whether or not it´s coming to other markets.
